OUR APPROACH

Although many people with disabilities have limited access to healthcare, education, employment, transport and leisure activities, their needs are rarely taken into account. Humanity & Inclusion works with people with disabilities, their families, their communities and a range of organizations for a truly inclusive world where people with disabilities have equal opportunities and rights.

We work with disabled people to promote inclusion in education, sports and cultural activities, access to employment, and lobbying governments to ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Humanity & Inclusion promotes access for children with disabilities to an education adapted to their needs. The association promotes the integration of children with disabilities into mainstream education. Inclusive education contributes to change of perspective on disability. For this, the association helps schools to accommodate students, adapting if necessary furniture and access to the building, but especially by training teachers to the specific needs of children with disabilities and by educating students and the community about disability.

HI also supports specialized structures (institutions for children with a mental handicap for example) and the creation of integrated classes (classes for children with disabilities inserted into a mainstream school).
